Our impact

While science has the potential to transform all our lives for the better, that only works if there is true representation, equity and equality of access for all.

Did you know we're an educational charity?

There are many issues around representation within STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) - from teaching within schools through to scientific research.

As a science centre, we're in a unique position to bridge the gap between science and people. As a charity (registered charity no. 1049954), it's our job to include everyone, build confidence and encourage agency.

Every year we welcome thousands of visitors to our venue on Bristol harbourside, including schoolchildren, young people, community groups and other local charities and not-for-profits.

We also work with local partners and schools to offer out and about activities, work experience programmes and bespoke opportunities for individuals who wouldn't normally feel like science is for them.

They made it so easy for us to attend, it was like you were able to forget your disability and be yourself without limitations. We The Curious opens up the world to everyone. I have learnt a lot through the displays, learnt more about myself and opened up my mind to many possibilities. I failed all my science GCSEs but now years on thanks to We The Curious, I have a renewed interest and want to keep going!

Our pledges

Our work as a charity is driven by our Manifesto. This is brought to life through five key pledges...

Cultivate Curiosity

Through sparking and sustaining people’s curiosity, we can unlock the potential in people and our planet.

Include Everyone

Our commitment to promote equity and inclusion in all aspects of our work, from accessible spaces to recruitment.

Open City Research

Open City Research is about giving everyone the opportunity to be part of science research.

Sustainable Futures

Along with our city, we’re on a critical journey to decarbonise by 2030.

Build Resilience

Valuing new perspectives, adapting and innovating to become a more resilient charity.

Our impact in action

Reimagining recruitment

We want everyone to succeed, be included, and belong. To do this, we had to start at the beginning of our People journey and reimagine almost every part of our recruitment process.

School Takeover Days

Taking curiosity-led learning experiences out to classrooms across our city.

Community membership

Designed to support charities, not for profit organisations and services, whose purpose is to support individuals who face barriers to accessing We The Curious.
