February Half Term

Does the colour of food affect how it tastes? How do insects survive the winter? How can communities work together to care for nature?

We'll be filling our spaces with fun, creative activities that will get curious minds buzzing this half term. 

Please book your tickets in advance as we tend to become fully booked during weekends and holidays. 

What's on this half term holiday 

• How does colour deceive our tastebuds?  Come and get cooking in the Kitchen with Rainbow Restaurant and whip up a unique treat for the senses.​
• Where do insects live in winter and what do they need? Head to the Greenhouse and build a bug hotel to take home with you in Minibeast Mansions.
• We’re starting a band and you’re invited! Come and make some noise in our new Studio show Good Vibrations.
• Head over to Open City Lab for new activities all about diet and climate change in 'Plates for the Planet'.
• How do colours affect our emotions? Make your own colourful binoculars in the craft activity 'See, Feel and Disappear!' and use them to explore how colours change what you see.
• Explore 'Nature Rising', a beautiful and inspiring new exhibition in The Box gallery.

All these activities are drop-in. Just check times on arrival. 

In the Planetarium

Add tickets to the UK's only 3D planetarium for just £4 per person (£3 concession). 

Set off on your very own space adventure in Expedition Solar System 3D or explore the lifecycle of stars in seasonal stargazing show The Story of Stars 

Due to eye health restrictions, 3D shows aren't suitable for children under 6. Instead little ones and their grown-ups can pack their space bags and prepare for launch in interactive show Space Explorers 2D.
