Moo-less Milk
**This event has now passed. Please visit our activities page for the latest daily programme.**
Plant-based diets are more popular than ever and lots of people are choosing milks that haven’t come from a cow.
Come to the Kitchen to learn how to make your own plant-based milks. It’s super simple and hands-on!

Recommended 7+ due to access height but works for younger ones with some support
Have a go at rolling some oats then whizzing them up to make milk in a very simple food science activity that is easy to try at home.
We’ll think about the different things that milk is made from and how they differ from traditional dairy milk in terms of nutrition and environmental impact.
We will also ask the philosophical question - “Is it milk?” – before enjoying our creation with a cup of tea.
Important information:
There will be 1-2 sessions per day. Just drop in, no booking required. Check times on arrival.
*We’re doing a spot of repair work to some leaks which have sprung up in recent rainy periods, on our North Gallery space from 2 – 11 December.
This means that a small number of our exhibits will be closed off including The Kitchen, but we’ll be open throughout the works.
The rest of the venue will be open as usual, along with our Planetarium, and other spaces such as Project What If, Build It (under 8s) and Tinkering Space.*
