Everything vibrates - from the smallest atom on Earth to the furthest star in space. Their frequencies surround and immerse us and yet the vast majority leave no imprint.

What if you could have a sensory glimpse into this hidden universe by making inaudible sound tangible, visible and real?

hertz, is a two-piece artwork by artist Juliet Robson, created in collaboration with academics from the fields of astrophysics, meteorology and mathematics.

The first piece can be found in the Box. Sense the real-time secret symphony of We The Curious, specific to the geography, environment and weather conditions of our city. Take a seat and feel the sensation of the infrasound, pulse through your body.

Upstairs in the Den area, the second piece to this installation invites you to contemplate our connection to the universe through the infrasound of the stars.

Listen to the secret songs of stars found in the constellations of Cygnus and Lyra, as their harmonics generate beautiful visual patterns, onto chladni plates.

Together these pieces question our perceptions of the world we live in. Encouraging curiosity in our planet and cosmos and providing alternative sensory routes into how we perceive sound.
