Our cafe gets a 'monstrous' makeover

After an extensive refurbishment our café reopened today with a delicious new menu, all new furniture and brilliant floor-to-ceiling illustration by Bristol based author, illustrator and inventor Alan Snow.

If you haven't heard of Alan Snow, he’s one of Bristol best kept secrets – an everyday inventor as well as celebrated illustrator and author. He has a deep love of food and science, so when we were thinking of people to illustrate our new-look café, naturally our thoughts turned to Alan.

After spending time involved in animation and computer games, Alan has also illustrated and written over 150 books, including Here be Monsters, the book that inspired the Boxtrolls film.

He has spent the last few years researching food, its history, and science, and is now working on making ice cream, and chocolate in his own lab, as well as writing a book on how to get the best from your kitchen.

You can see some of Alan's monstrous illustration below, but check out the real thing in our sparkly new cafe. The new menu features a range of salads and specials cooked in the 'Big Red Egg', an indoor BBQing contraption. They are freshly produced, locally sourced and totally yummy - even if we do say so ourselves!
